Welcome to The Congress of Racial Equality - CA
CORE- California became a stand alone organization in 1987, founded by Celes King III & Anita Lugo King. While it came about directly because of philosophical differences between Celes King III and the national office of the Congress of Racial Equality.
In 1987 it was decided that because the Congress of Racial Equality brand in California was synonymous with the name of Celes King III creating a stand alone organization to continue the representation of marginalized communities, impacting and addressing all areas concerning quality of life issues including, education, economic opportunity, health care, marketing practices in low income along with public safety issues, would provide the foundation for continued work in the legacy of the Celes King family involvement in civil and human rights for the preceding 90 years started by Celes King Sr.
